OMFGBBQ!!!1!1 Sarah Palin’s Husband and Eldest Son Not Registered Republicans

| August 29, 2008 | Comments (2)

When the MSM has gotten tired of wondering absently on every freaking newscast for the next month is Sarah Palin’s two years as Governor is enough experience, expect this to be the next line of attack.

The Republican Party is in such bad shape that the VP nominee’s husband and oldest son aren’t even registered Republicans. Bet on it, friends. This will get mention very soon. I don’t blame the Politico for running the story, by the way. I think it has a certain newsworthiness, insofar as Palin has built a reputation of cleaning house in Alaska, no matter the party, and this story reinforces that image. But my guess is that Chris Matthews and his screaming horde of Obama disciples will spin it into something nefarious.

Until then, though, they’re going to indulge in some not-so-hidden sexism. Ace has sussed it out already.

Sexism (For Real This Time!): “Is She Experienced Enough?” is Sexist Code for “Is She Tough and Manly Enough?”

That’s why they’re pushing this absurd notion that Sarah Palin’s two years of governorship doesn’t adequately qualify her, but Tim Kaine’s (Democrat!) two years did qualify him.

Being liberals, and having pissed off the PUMAs, they can’t come out and ask if she’s tough enough, flinty enough, if she’s got the stones, if she can order men into battle to die. So they’re going to insinuate it by asking about her “experience.”

Ace says it’s a valid perception, but I’m not at all sure it is.

I think that as her record in Alaska gets wider press, folks are going to find that she’s plenty tough enough. She’s faced down one of the most entrenched political machines in the country, unlike a certain rookie from Illinois, and won.

Ace thinks that her perky personality is going to require that she show a bit more than she already has, but you could say that of anyone in the race right now. If she does have to work harder, it won’t be because the American public requires it of her. It’ll be because the Democrats will continue to push the “awww….ain’t she cute” line. And it’ll be as sexist as you can get.

Maybe she can bring her youngest daughter along on news interviews as insurance – sort of a “you don’t ask me biased questions and no one’s face has to be melted off by this cute little girl here”.

Questions about Palin's experience have NOTHING to do with sexism or how tough she is. I personally questioned, and still do, Obama's fitness for the office for the same reason. More people should have questioned it but they were, and probably still are, afraid of being labeled racist if they do. The only reason that Obama is the Democratic nominee is because most liberals were afraid of being perceived as racist but were in fact sexist! Real sexism is what cost Hillary Clinton the nomination, since she is ridiculously more qualified than Obama and he purports to have extremely similar views. (Since he doesn’t have much of a record and has mislead or outright lied about background, I am not certain that he does have the same views, in fact, I doubt it.)

If Palin were applying for the job of VP of a company with as little experience as she has for the job, she wouldn’t even get a phone interview! Selecting her as a way of attracting women voters was a BIG mistake. Women do not want a woman in the office regardless of her views or qualifications. What they want is for qualified women with the same views and goals for the country to be considered on their merit and NOT because of their gender. Palin nomination is an insult and a disservice to all the qualified women. When an unqualified woman such as Palin is “promoted” beyond the level she deserves strictly because of her gender, it only makes it harder for qualified women to get the jobs they deserve based on their merit.

Deb, let me ask you this.

What experience do you want her to have?
