McCain’s Veep Pick is Stealing Obama’s Thunder, and The One is Not Pleased

As if we political junkies are bouncing around like kindergartners with a case of Pixie Sticks enough as it is, John McCain has decided that he’s going to announce his VP pick tomorrow.
Or maybe tonight, if the rumors of a leak are true.
It almost goes without saying that conjecture abounds (if it went entirely without saying, then I wouldn’t have much to blog, now would I?). If you’ve paid any attention to the news, you’ve heard the names: Mitt Romney, Joe Lieberman, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, Tim Pawlenty, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee. The closer we get to the convention, the more goofy we get the rumors: Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney’s sister, and my personal favorite Appollo Creed. And why not get goofy? There are only so many Veep fish in the sea and for lack of anything substantial, goofiness is fun.
On the other hand, there’s such a thing as taking goofiness too far, such as when the Obama campaign pre-accuses the McCain camp of “political malpractice”. I think the Obama campaign knows just how bad this convention has been for him and is deathly afraid that McCain is going to steal what little bit of political thunder they can suck from the final day.
For my money, McCain’s going to hold the pick until tomorrow, but he’ll let the rumor of a leak hang out there to further diminish the Obamessiah’s press coverage.
