Oh man, here comes the MSM’s Biden Rehabilitation project.

This morning New York Times reporter John Harwood showed up on Obama-NBC to explain why Biden’s “clean” comment about Obama for which we had to apologize profusely doesn’t really matter at all.

He is not somebody who is infused with political correctness, the verbal equivalent of putting his pinky up when he opens his mouth. So this is what, the way ordinary voters are as well. They’re not always worried about sort of calibrating every single word by “ooh, is this racially insensitive?” That’s something that Joe Biden brings as an asset to the ticket. The gaffes actually show one of his strengths.

I’m embarrassed for Harwood. The very idea that a journalist, whose watchword is supposed to be objectivity, would come out as a journalist with this obvious spin on the behalf of a presidential candidate ought to be shameful. Unfortunately, these days, journalistic integrity sells for dirt-cheap.

I bet Trent Lott is simply thrilled about the new, forgiving MSM, now that he’s managed to finally pick the feathers out of his hair and clean off all the tar. Funny how the new grace seems to be available on the very same day that fumble-tongued Barack Obama chooses a fellow gaffe-o-matic as his running mate.

A more cynical person might believe that a double standard is at work in the MSM today.

Allah suggests that perhaps this is a promising route for John McCain to take as well:

Golly, maybe this has been McCain’s problem all along. When the dumbest hacks in the lefty blogosphere attacked him for coded messages in the Britney ad, I thought they were objecting to the alleged message. Turns out they were probably just objecting to the fact that it was coded. If only Maverick had been forthright and thrown in a bon mot about Barry O being “clean,” the freshness of his candor would have charmed us all and been celebrated as a political strength.

Today, also, the left is pre-blaming America if the Obamessiah does not Ascend to the White House, just to make sure the giant safety net of excuses is solidly in place no matter the outcome of the election. According to Slate, the only thing that’s will hold The Anointed One from his rightful position as President of the World is our filthy racism. You’d think that maybe his rank incompetence might have something to do with it, or his support for infanticide, or his dirty dealings with crooks and corrupt powerbrokers, or his keen dislike for America, or his decided ignorance on foreign policy, or his desire to pow-wow like pals with tyrants, or his intention to shove tired and failed socialist economic policies down our throats.

But no. It’ll be because we hate the Magic Negro.
