Obama: Hey, You Know Who Is A Lot Like Russia? Us.

I must confess, I do not understand people who can not criticize the wrongs of another nation without reflexively criticizing the perceived wrongs of the United States as well. That sort of “Yeah, well, we’re not any better” response grates on me for a couple reasons. The most obvious reason is that, generally, the criticisms are either not true or are overblown to fit into the gaping hole of moral relativism the speak has created.

But the biggest reason is because those who are quick to equate America with assorted tyrants and haed-choppers are never so quick to praise or thank America for her manifold examplary qualities. They liberally give the benefit of the doubt to totalitarians and rarely give the same to you and me. Their ingratitude to America for the opportunities they have had to grow wealthy and influential (often far beyond their abilities)

So it is with Barack Obama who earlier this week couldn’t condemn Russia for its invasion of a sovereign and free Georgia without blaming America for at least part of it.

LYNCHBURG, Virginia – Democrat Barack Obama scolded Russia again on Wednesday for invading another country’s sovereign territory while adding a new twist: the United States, he said, should set a better example on that front, too.

The Illinois senator’s opposition to the Iraq war, which his comment clearly referenced, is well known. But this was the first time the Democratic presidential candidate has made a comparison between the U.S. invasion of Iraq and Russia’s recent military activity in Georgia.

“We’ve got to send a clear message to Russia and unify our allies,” Obama told a crowd of supporters in Virginia. “They can’t charge into other countries. Of course it helps if we are leading by example on that point.”

This is not, as Reuters calls it, “a new twist”. This is the same old “America is bad” bullflop that he’s been flinging around his entire campaign. He’s just smearing it on a new wall now. Without going into the details for the bazillionth time, we did not just “charge into” another country and we never have. We have always given ample and clear warnings. We have frequently sought and received the approval of international bodies even when such approval was not necessary.

But those facts don’t really matter. Obama’s operating with dislike for America that’s been honed to a keen edge after a couple of decades being buddies with assorted America-haters, racists, and murderers. He can afford to ignore the facts since he using them will lose him cred among his fellow Democrats.

And speaking of facts, did you catch that bit about how we should unite our allies? It looks like the Obamessiah missed this picture. And this news story. And this one. And this one. It sure looks to me like our allies are plenty unified on this issue. Don’t our brand-new allies in Eastern Europe, the ones who are closest to and know the most about Russia and the geopolitical situation, count for anything? Or is this just another case of Barack Obama running his mouth long before his brain ever kicks into gear?

I swear, tyrants all around the world have got to be salivating at the prospect of President Obama.

Russia did not attack on Georgia. Georgia attacked South Ossetia. They attacked them back in the 90's. This was genocide. Georgia wanted to completely destroy Ossetia. To the Georgians to settle there, where is South Ossetia. Russia saved Ossetia. We have seen how Georgia shelled women and children. Russian soldiers gave their lives to save them.
