Eric Cantor and His Jewish Power Sandwich

The Democratic National Committee spent 660 words trying to tie conservative Republican Senator Eric Cantor to long-departed criminal and lobbyist Jack Abramoff. That’s to be expected. Abramoff is the Dems bogeyman du jour, the political Freddy Krueger they use to scare their gullible voters into believing that only the Republicans are up to their eyeballs in lobbyists.

However, the DNC also wants us to know something else important about Cantor: he’s a Jew. How important is it to the Democratic National Committee that we know this apparently damning fact? Well, they make the point five times in six paragraphs, including this mind-boggling paragraph:

At Fundraiser, Jack Abramoff Named Sandwich After Eric Cantor — Cantor Asked To Switch Sandwiches. “At a January 2003 fundraiser for Cantor, who had just become chief deputy whip, Abramoff unveiled the Eric Cantor sandwich, ‘a tuna-based stacker,’ which, lamentably, was ‘not quite [the] power lunch befitting’ the only Jewish Republican in the House. Hence a request by Cantor … to switch his eponymous sandwich to roast beef on challah, ‘a deli special that exudes Jewish power.’” [The Hill, 1/18/2006]

That’s right, Eric Cantor is so in with powermongering crook (and as the DNC makes sure to note for us, a fellow Jew) Jack Abramoff that Abramoff used his special powers of Jewry to have…

…a sandwich named after him!

Oy! You’d think with such magical Jew powers, Cantor would get something a bit more than that, wouldn’t you? What with Abramoff there, they could have touched Secret Decoder Rings and activate their Wonder Jew Powers and who knows what could happen?

They might even be able to mention Barack Obama’s middle name out loud, where people can hear it.

But don’t you dare call them anti-Semitic.
