More Journalists Shot at By Russian Troops. Still No Word from the MSM

| August 15, 2008 | Comments (3)

Ace is on the same track I was yesterday.

Gee, I seem to remember cries that the US was deliberately assassinating journalists in Iraq when one journalist got hit at extreme range by a stray bullet (which wasn’t even necessarily fired by US troops!).

What occasioned his post is this extraordinary video. Four Turkish journalists were fired upon by Russian soldiers. The troops must have thought that Georgia had traded in its tanks and uniforms for an SUV and a colorful striped polo shirt.

As Ace notes, there has been absolutely no protest from those who were so eager to accuse us of shooting journalists. If anyone in the media or the left has condemned Russia for its open and direct hostility toward neutral journalists I sure as hell haven’t seen it.

It’s almost like they prefer Vladimir Putin to George Bush.

    You think? LOL

  2. Nick Wilsdon says:

To be fair, no-one knows who fired at these journalists so your title is misleading. Unless of course, you know more about this than the NTV network that employed them?

"The network NTV told CNN it was unclear who fired on the vehicle, striking journalist Levent Ozturk in his left eye.

The group Human Rights Watch said Thursday that troops from Georgia and Russia appear to have caused civilian casualties through indiscriminate attacks in Gori and Tshinvali."

  3. Jimmie says:

Sure, Nick, because there's a huge likelihood that there were Georgian troops in those areas, which the Russian had decidedly captured, where the Russians were hunting for Georgians, and which were swarming with Russian troops.
