A New Outbreak of Bush Derangement Syndrome

| August 15, 2008 | Comments (6)

Here are a couple quotes from a news story. See if you can figure out where they came from. I changed one word in the first quote so as not to give the game away.

[Radio listeners] were told over breakfast yesterday what really happened in Georgia: the conflict in South Ossetia was part of a plot by Dick Cheney, the Vice-President, to stop Barack Obama being elected president of the United States.

“George Bush’s Administration is promoting interests of candidate John McCain…“Defeated by Barak Obama on all fronts, McCain has one last card to play yet – the creation of a virtual Cold War with Russia…Bush himself did not want a war in South Ossetia but his Republican Party did not leave him any choice.”

Did you guess some lefty blog like dKos? How about Michael Moore? Maybe a popular journalist Chris Matthews? Keith Olbermann? Katie Couric? Perhaps the New York Times?

Nope, none of those.

The first bit came from Vesti FM, a Russian state radio station. The second quote was directly from Dr. Sergei Markov, a man very close to Vladimir Putin.

Boy, they do have the patter down right, don’t they? What worse is that their people believe their propaganda because the media outlets of the West have piddled away their integrity.

“In the old days under Soviet rule we didn’t believe a word of our own propaganda but we thought that information was free in the West and we longed for it,” said Katya, a middle-aged Muscovite. “But we have learnt since that the West has its own propaganda and in some ways it is more powerful because people believe it.”

How sad a statement is that? Russians have learned since the mid 1990s that they can no longer trust the word of the West because of our lying hacks in the press have abused their positions of trust to flack for the Democratic Party or their own personal ambition. We had a powerful weapon and a bountiful account full of trust and goodwill. Where is it now?

It’s in the hands of the Russians who are using it to snow their people.

The coverage goes down well in developing countries that want an alternative to CNN and BBC World Service, a Russian official said. “We have learnt from Western TV how to simplify the narrative.”

How charming. Nice job, you selfish media jackals.

You know what I thought as I listened to Matt Lauer & the others at NBC (but especially Matt) at the Olympics? Communists everywhere were probably listening to him & thinking, dang, we have to threaten our own reporters to get the kind of lavish, fawning coverage NBC offers. There were several comments through the opening ceremony that nearly made me gag. How sad for the Chinese people to know that their tormentors were treated with so much respect by a NON-Government run media, from a free country, that doesn't have to fear for their lives for reporting the truth.

Lori, from what I've seen from Russia this week, it's pretty clear that other countries learn from us. Perhaps what the Chinese have learned is that the media can be bought, and if you're a tyrant, NBC will give you a cut rate.

  3. Lori says:

Bought? They don't even need to buy our media…they are giving it away for free!!

But I agree with you…Russia has noticed that our media's natural inclination is to promote Communist principles; basically being the useful idiots that the commies know they are.

So what do we do? What can we do? Although I am a faithful viewer of Fox News aka Faux News, they seem to be the only news network that will cover both sides, but even at that, their "journalists" and "anchors" throw in their ideology whenever they can. Just watch Shep Smith during his coverage of Katrina. Why can't they just report the damn news and leave the commentary to the pundits? I gave up on NBC, CBS and ABC years ago. The bias there is sickening. But to a lib mind, it all makes perfect sense.

They darn well _should_ notice it – they planted the seeds back in the 50s-60s. The only thing they didn't plan for was the downfall of the USSR. The whole bloody left wing of the Democratic party has been completely indoctrinated with Communism – and they may not even know it. But after 50 years, Communism has faded from prominence or at least from awareness. That doesn't mean it isn't still there. A rose still smells like a rose – even if you don't know its name!

Their infiltration into the educational system – particularly the upper level educational system – and indoctrination efforts have been very successful. No doubt about it. Kruschev said "our grandchildren will bury yours" – he wasn't far off. Rot from the inside is a greater peril for the oak tree than winds and rains on the outside.

All good points Suek. Depressing…but dead on none the less.
