Obama’s Insult is as Flat as His Imaginary Tires
Oh, for the love of Pete, Senator, will you just admit that you went over the edge, said something stupid, and move on?
You really do have to read what he had to say because it’s so brazen in its dishonesty that I’m surprised he didn’t spontaneously burst into flame out of sheer embarrassment.
The fact – and this is a fact – is that he was wrong. While it is true that if every single car had the correct air pressure in its tires and was tuned-up regularly, we might save enough oil as we’d get if we opened up all the prohibited areas. It is also true that keeping your tires properly-inflated is a good thing that will save you money, not just in gasoline but also in tires.
But it is also true that most cars have their tires where they should be and are regularly serviced. That’s where his statement runs off the rails into Stupidland. There are a few folks out there who can’t quite wrap their heads around this, so let me break it down very simply.
Barack Obama’s statement can only be true if every single car in the United States is running around in need of a tune-up and on under-inflated tires. I know, without a doubt, that is not true. How do I know that? Because my car is properly maintained. That leaves Barack Obama at least one car short of his goal. Do you know of another car that’s up to snuff? How about yours? Your neighbor’s? Your family’s? Add those cars to the total.
I work for a police department. Our cars have a regular maintenance schedule so he can’t count those cars either. Ditto for the police cars of the department that shares out building. That’s getting up to a few hundred cars now.
This isn’t hard to figure out, yet Barack Obama seems to be having real trouble with it. In his words, it’s like he takes pride in being ignorant.

Category: The Obamessiah, Thinking About Energy

So Obama says a very common sense thing, something that Gov. Crist in Florida, Arnold Schwarzenneger in CA, NASCAR among others have repeated and a lot of people get into a tizzy? He has mentioned other stuff related to his energy plan, this was just an extra commented he added. What is the big deal? Phony outrage?
I wonder if we did go after the 1/4 of the cars that were under-serviced & have under-inflated tires, which segments of society would be hardest hit….hmmmm???
jtannen, if you read Obama's comment and my post on the subject, then you know better and you're lying. Come back when you're ready to have an honest adult conversation.
C'mon…follow the logic here…
If having tune-ups regularly and inflating tires properly is all that it takes to reduce our imports of oil, of course we should all do it. It should be the law, right? So then we should have that special civilian corp he wants out there on the streets checking everyone's air pressure, and of course, you should be required to carry your proof of tune-up right there with your proof of insurance. See…all in one fell swoop, we not only reduce our oil imports, but reduce unemployment!
Hey, how about we have the civilian corp trained to give on the spot tune-ups & air up tires? LOL
California already has a phone line set up where people can call up & anonymously report smoking vehicles. Perhaps we can set up a program where people can report on their family, friends & co-workers?
