Parents of Dead Chinese Schoolchildren see Torch Run as “Bittersweet”

Yeah, I bet it will be.
DUJIANGYAN, China (Reuters) - The capital of China’s earthquake-ravaged province of Sichuan will welcome the Olympic torch on Tuesday, but for thousands still mourning lost relatives and lost homes, the relay’s arrival is bittersweet.
Since the quake devastated the region on May 12, killing at least 70,000, the government changed the relay route to move through Sichuan, making it the last stop before the torch reaches Beijing and taking affected cities off the route.
The Chinese government is doing its best to make sure that the world doesn’t remember the schools that collapsed because they were made with inferior material by incompetent builders while schools made for students of party officials stood largely undamaged. The people are afraid to talk to what few reporters make it into the area and the ChiComs have routed the torch run around the devastated cities to hide the misery caused by their evil.
But, hey. There’s an Olympiad to be held and darned if a few thousand dead kids are gong to get in the way of the festivities, right?

I hope & pray the Chinese people get to the cameras. And I hope our news media grow some stones & decide to air the Chinese government’s dirty laundry. And mostly I just pray for the Chinese; that a better, more free life waits on the other side of whatever sacrifices have been or are about to be visited upon them.
