Michelle Malkin is decidedly unhappy that Nancy Pelosi decided to shut down C-SPAN’s cameras today so that America could not see the debate that continued after she decided to go on vacation. She suggests that we visit Pelosi’s blog and leave a polite comment that in the future she remember that we still have a tradition of free and open debate here in America.
Alas, that can not happen because the Speaker of the House who proclaimed that her leadership would herald an era of integrity, civility, and bipartisanship has closed the comments on her blog entries.
From where I sit, this is not “the most open and honest government in history” that we were promised two years ago. It does look like a shamefully-broken promise. After all, she once assured us that “our promise to drain the swamp that is Washington, D.C., to let sunshine disinfect the Congress. We have promised the highest ethical standard, and we will deliver it, in an open and honest government.”
I’d hate to think that was all just smoke and mirrors meant to dupe voters into thinking that she was actually going to have an open and honest government. But, “comments closed” does send a pretty clear message, does it not?
