You Can’t Take The Brawler Out of the Bad Boy…
It looks like NBA thuggery has made its way to the WNBA. Last night the Los Angeles Sparks and the Detroit Shock had a brawl so big that the league is having to stagger the suspensions it’s meted out as punishment. If it suspends everyone at the same time, neither team will have enough players to play the next couple of games. In all, ten women and one man were suspended for their part in the fight. The man is an assistant coach for the Shock who earned his suspension by shoving Sparks player Lisa Leslie to the floor early into the fracas. The shove is basically what turned the whole thing into a brawl.
What makes this story so darned bloggable is that the assistant coach is Rick Mahorn. Yep, hoops fans, that Rick Mahorn. What makes it even better is that the head coach of the Shock is Bill Laimbeer.
I’m kind of surprised they didn’t pick a fight the very first game
