Another Grass Roots GOP Group Says, “Shape Up or Ship Out!”

Hmm…maybe there’s some life in the old girl yet.

Congressional Republican leaders clearly have no idea what we, their fellow GOP members (and financial backers), say to one another when we get together, yet for years one refrain has been constant: our extreme discontent over how the former GOP majority blew it on spending.

It is not credible to ask the American people to return Republicans to the majority when all we offer them is the same group of leaders and policies they so recently rejected.

It’s not just “branding,” but the right policies which will breathe new life into the Republican Party and re-energize voters.

And one more thing: come November 5th, should the current GOP leadership in either house survive to lead in a new Congress, the Lincoln Club of Orange County will review its financial backing of all Congressional Republicans, and we urge others to do likewise. A GOP caucus that would re-elect such leaders is not one we would likely continue to support.

Because, simply put: we refuse to support a permanent minority.

The ellipses hide the real meat of the complaint, which is well-founded and not at all new, and the solution which ought to get the GOP’s attention.

These guys plan to mess with the money. The Republicans will either heed and heel or they’ll maul these upstart citizens who dare to hold them accountable. My bet is on the latter. If the last two elections didn’t knock some sense back into the colelctive heads of knuckle running the Republican Party, I’m not sure what will. Being in the permanent minority holds a certain appeal. After all, they can still scoop up all the pork they can bear and they can blame those darned tax and spend Democrats for everything. All it costs them is their principles and from what I’ve seen, the leaders of the party aren’t valuing them highly anyhow.

I do like the cut of this new group’s jib. Let’s keep an eye on them and see what pressure they can bring to bear.
