Congress Votes to Keep Your Health Care Really Expensive
Congress voted to override President Bush’s veto of the latest Medicare bill, which pretty much ensures that you’re going to be paying through the nose for your healthcare. The main point of contention between Congress and the President was over a section of the bill that would have reduced Medicare payments to doctors by a bit over 10 percent. Democrats, being mostly the good little socialists they are, wanted the government to pay more to doctors and cut the Medicare contributions to a program called Medicare Advantage, which gave patients a choice of private insurers.
Of course there were a number of bribe-happy Republicans eager to go along with the Democrats because they lack a spine and are extremely fond of taking your money, giving some of it to other people, and lining the pockets of bureaucrats and other government officials with the rest.
I do ask you to remember, the best time you wonder why health care is so expensive, who was so very happy today that they made health care more expensive.
