Laughing at a Progressive is Like Beating a Five Year Old at Monopoly…
Now this is funny! In fact, it’s funny on three levels.
1) It’s damned good satire on its own.
2) It’s even more funny because it’s dead-on satire of a satirical situation that would not have happened if the offended people had any sort of a sense of humor. Which they don’t, so they’re not going to find this carton funny either, which I think is really funny. So it’s funny and it’s meta-funny.
3) The comments section of the story is packed to the gills with comments that bear out my second point and make the whole thing a perfect three-layer burrito of funny. And as the bonus pico de gallo the self-appointed Dementors in the comment section are still whining about the manifest meanness of (and this still makes me laugh) the New Yorker magazine. That makes it meta-meta-funny!
It’s tough for me to enjoy this much humor at their expense, though. Progressives are notoriously humorless, save the sarcastic cynicism they reserve for people they despise. It’s the humor of John Stewart and Bill Maher that sneers at anything that doesn’t think just like them and puffs up like a panicked blowfish when someone so much as laughs in their general direction. They never have a good laugh at themselves or any of their cherished idols. They just look at you with those snotty, judgemental eyes and say…well…there’s this joke that sums it all up:
Q: How many progressives does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: That’s not funny!!
I kind of pity them. It’s almost no real sport to make fun of them in their earnestness to stamp out the unapproved smiles of the masses. Their funny bones are so atrophied that it would be like arm-wresting a kid who just got his arm out of a cast. It’s like kicking someone who’s down and helpless. I don’t find a lot of joy in it (well, okay, sometimes I find a lot of joy in it). I don’t at all mind puncturing the overwhelming sense of self-regard and entitlement that todays progressives carry around with them everywhere).
I wonder how long it’s been since they’ve laughed until their sides hurt and they felt like they couldn’t breathe anymore. It must have been years since any of them have laughed at something that wasn’t shot through with politics and involved the words “Bush” or “Cheney”. I can’t imagine how bleak that sort of life must be. No wonder they want to be in charge so badly. It must be the only time they give themselves permission to feel good.

LOL – I can't believe the comments. Those liberals literally block out anything that they don't want to hear to the point that many of them deny there is any shred of truth in the Obama cartoon, yet ALL of it is true in the McCain cartoon. They probably even believe that National Review is going to run this as opposed to it just being a cartoon. The thing is, no one on the right will even try to deny that these things are true about the McCains. Now why can't the left see that the Obamas HAVE had associations with terrorist, flag burners/stompers, Obama DID go to a Muslim school (unlike any other president or candidate we've ever had), Michelle IS one angry, black-separatist b-yotch….hmmm, why can't they see it?
I love the ones that are worried about the Obama-toon because, as they tell it, we have so many stupid people in this country that aren't smart enough to figure out this is just a cartoon & they will actually believe this stuff about Obama. They always think they are the smartest people in the room, huh?
