China Moves to Protect Its Genocidal Cash Machine

| July 15, 2008 | Comments (0)

China is very unhappy that the chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Court is trying to get an arrest warrant for the leader of the Sudan. The words “grave concern” are being bandied about, and “misgivings” as well.

On the other hand, folks like me are bandying about these words:

China, Khartoum’s biggest arms supplier and a major investor in its oil industry, now faces difficult choices over its relationship with Bashir just as the Beijing Olympics opens a soft spot for international pressure.

In other words, the Sudan is a big cash cow for China and they won’t want to give it up, no matter how many hundreds of thousands of people are dead.

Fie on that and fie on China’s delicate sensibilities.
