AP Reporter Videotapes a Double Murder.
This may not be a story you’ll want to follow much farther than this post. I admit that reading the story turned my stomach. On the other hand, you may want to know just how fully the AP has throw in its lot with the Islamists.
The AP ran a story today, complete with pictures and video that was taken my one of their reporters in Afghanistan. The pictures who two women whom the Taliban suspected of being prostitutes who services Westerners. The Taliban acted in best Islamist fashion and murdered them in the street. The reporters has photos of the women both before and after their execution. He also has photos of the Taliban taken the same day, which shows that he was with these killers for at least a whole day.
That would be enough circumstantial evidence for me. What makes me more than a little bit sick to my stomach is that the same reporter also videotaped the murder. You can, according to Rusty, hear one woman screaming (the picture is bad because it was taken at night) even after the first shots.
I have no inclination to watch the video, but I must ask what possessed the AP to write about the story as if the killers were completely morally neutral and the AP had only happened onto the scene. My conclusion is pretty nasty and it makes me glad that I don’t post links to that particular news organization any more. I refuse to patronize a news outlet that uncritically broadcasts the propaganda of an avowed enemy.
William Teach asks another very good question:
[W]ill all those liberal women’s groups who we never hear from about the plight of women under Islam decry what the AP has done?
No, of course they won’t. In progressive minds, to condemn Islamism is to praise George W. Bush and that must never, ever be done. No matter how many women are slaughtered in front of an AP camera lens.

I'm not going to watch the video either, but I'm kinda wondering what your take on the alternative might be. Would you have hoped the AP guy had interrupted them? Turned off the camera? Preferred they'd censored it?

Not answering for Jimmie but yes, that is what I wished had happened. Or at the very least, AP should now fire him. Let the Islamists video their own murders. They seem to be equipped most of the time to do just that.
The problem with video like this is on the one hand, it does show US what evil these people are capable of. But I don't think that really means a lot any more. Some people see evil for what it is, then still others here in the US make excuses for it. So the real damage being done is the footage will be used to terrorize the people in Afghanistan who otherwise would not cooperate with the Taliban. So the AP is basically helping the Taliban; and no one else.
Chen – He shouldn't have filmed it. Further, he should have reported the murder to the authorities also.
At some point the guy had to stop shilling for the Islamists and remember his decency. Assuming he had any. It could be that the whole reason he's working for the AP is that he's an Islamist himself. I honestly don't know.
I suppose there is a fine line between being a propagandist and being a reporter.
