The Progressives Won’t Even Wait for Tony’s Funeral to Spit on Him
The word “vile” is far too gentle a word to use to describe today’s progressives. All over the left blogosphere – sites like dKos, The Carpetbagger Report, Balloon Juice, and AMERICAblog – the bile toward Tony Snow is spilling out like water over Victoria Falls. It is beyond disgusting that the left can not give a fellow human being even one day to be dead in peace before they rhetorically defile his corpse. These comments do not come largely from small blogs like mine. These are the movers and shakers of the left, by and large. They are the people who write columns in mainstream publications, work for Democratic politicians, and have those politicians visit their national gatherings. This is not the fringe. It is the mainstream of progressive thought in all its ugly, fascistic glory.
It is a mode of thinking that not only takes glee in the death of a man who did nothing more than work for a rival political administration but who wishes death on all who think differently from them. There is no room for debate or reason, no chance for compromise or discussion. You must either agree with them or you are worthy of nothing but a lingering and painful death.
I’m fully behind Jeff Goldstein on this.
As I noted in the earlier thread, I feel genuinely sorry for those who relish Snow’s death as certain people would, say, the death of Zarqawi. But if I met any of these people personally, it would be the contempt I likewise feel for them that they’d almost certainly remember from our exchange.
Make no mistake. These are people whose self-proclaimed compassion extends only to those who agree with them — or at least have manners enough to pretend to — and this includes a willingness to turn en masse on one of their own, as the Kos diarist responsible for trying to cast Snow in a more “human” light is finding out today.
The rest of us are their mortal enemies, and our deaths are to be celebrated, and even embroidered with colorful fantasies about finding ourselves deep in hell, where we’ll be eternally cornholed by the forked cock of Satan.
To vote these people into power by way of their representative proxies is to ensure that we move more and more toward a totalitarian society in which “hate speech” comes to mean anything not sanctioned by those who legislate themselves into the position of moral arbitrators.
All I want to do is tend my garden. But if it comes down to it, I’ll use my weed whacker to defend the perimeter.
Bet on it.
I have no more inclination to give progressives the benefit of the doubt. I should have known from the way they attacked Jonah Goldberg after he pulled back the curtain and showed us that they have always been like this that they were not interested in comity. The only government they truly desire is the one where they are in charge and you shut up and do what you’re told.
The next time you wonder if progressives are really fascist, take a good long look at Jeff’s thread and some of the comments there. It’s not a tough question to answer.

Look up "narcissistic personality disorder" if you want to understand why the left savages those who dare disagree with them. To the hard-core leftist, everything is an extension of politics, and politics revolves around them. In their minds, they are the most important people in the world, and everything is viewed in terms of how it relates personally to them. A prime example is Olbermann and his "Worst Person In the World". It's never a dictator, a mass murderer, a crazed lunatic, or genuine monster imposing brutality or misery on innocents. It's always someone outspoken who dares disagree with the orthodoxy of the Politically Correct, who becomes an obstacle to the furtherance of the leftist agenda…
They always do this. The ability to restrain your most base instincts is a sign of maturity. They don’t have it. No class either….

I can't say I am surprised Jimmie. I knew it would happen. How in the name of God, did these people get pegged with the term progressive? I almost feel sorry for them, but not quite. It must be miserable going through life with that much hatred and rage inside of you.
Jewells, the term "progressive" came because they were progressing away from the liberal governments (that we today would call "classical liberal") and were moving toward authoritarian governments where everyone worked for the betterment of the state and where the state was Mother, Father, and God.
Hmm, I never knew that. Well, someone should come up with a new label. How about degenerate?
Oh, I like the old label. But we can use the label that one of the leading progressives wanted to use instead: "enlightened Nazism".
That's from the same man who suggested, in the same speech, that the label "Liberal Fascism" was equally appropriate.
I like "progressivists" myself. There's nothing particularly progressive about them, in the most literal sense, so "progressive" doesn't quite do it. And "progressivist" expresses the fetishization of what is fundamentally a poorly conceived political point of view quite nicely, I think.
Okay, I've got one….how about "Dengenerate Progressivist Juvenille Libtards"….???
