Jackson Goes All Pit-Fighter on Obama, or So It Seems.
The blogosphere is aflame with this story, wherein noted race-bater Jesse Jackson got a little *ahem* street on Barack Obama.
In an aside to another guest after a Fox News Channel interview on Sunday, Jackson had said Obama had been talking down to black people and added: “I want to cut his nuts out.”
He said on CNN: “I was in a conversation with a fellow guest at Fox on Sunday. He asked about Barack’s speeches lately at the black churches. I said it can come off as speaking down to black people.”
Is this the hot blue on blue action that has been boiling below the surface in this campaign? After all, the Obamessiah has been walking the tightrope between a ravenous bunch of grievance-mongers and race-baiters that he’s recently ticked off when he threw his dear racist friend Jeremiah Wright under the Obama Express and the vast lily white Democratic pundit class who like black politicians but only when they’re spouting the time-honored progressive claptrap. Maybe Obama leaned a bit too far toward the Democratic establishment by making nice with Hillary Clinton and hiring on a few pigmentally-challenged Clintonistas.
Maaaaybe, but I don’t think so. This doesn’t seem like much of a big deal. In fact, it stinks to me of a put-on.
Jesse Jackson has been out of the limelight for so long that his coffers have got to be mighty low right now. What better to get him some great ink than a “regrettable” statement followed closely by an abject apology and maybe some energetic campaigning for his new-found friend? Something like that could fill up the bank account pretty darned quickly (and speaking of filling up the bank account, why don’t you buy yourself a little something nice from Amazon, hey? Or kick a ten-spot into the tip jar. If Jesse can shill, so can I).
Meanwhile, Barack Obama gets to be magnanimous in his forgiveness, letting Jackson walk in the garden of his turbulence*. He polishes his halo and incidentally brings in a few bucks himself as well as the hosannas of the adoring media throng.
It’s a win-win for both of them in the long term.
Allah thinks this is real, but not so much of a much. He notes that Jackson has gone after Obama a bit before, so this isn’t terribly out of character. I’m still inclined to believe it was all very good political theater.
*Bonus points if you get the reference. Where are you going to get such obscure quotes other than here?
