That's really not the theme of his piece as a whole, only of one paragraph. He argued that O's and libs' problem is that they're like a nagging wife who's never satisfied: "This sense that America is in need of fixing in order to be a great country points to Obama's real patriotism problem."
As if we're trying to get you off your duff to take out the trash-- when the game is still on! Of course Homer is irked, since he has provided Marge with a nice home and family and a fridge full of food. Unfortunately, slavery-- or a 1000 other ills-- wouldn't have ended with that attitude. D'oh!
"I think that when he wrote “America is fundamentally good”, she read “America’s government is fundamentally good”. She honestly sees no difference between country and government."
Of course she knows the difference. Don't insult our intelligence along with hers. She talks about gov't for the same reason JG talked about Obama-- it's a presidential election season. As for the American people, I'm sure she has at least as many friends here as you do. That's not the issue-- of course it's politics and ideology.
"with George Bush in the White House, America is no longer a good place"
He has been a real drag. Yet... she still lives here, so she obviously doesn't think he's spoiled it entirely.
"It is a force of evil, barely contrained [sic] by the Constitution, truly held in check only by their courageous dissent."
Straw Man alert! Where does she say anything like that? About JG's rhetoric, yes, but not about the USA or USG. You're the one who needs to "relax and breathe" before you pass out from hyperventilation.
"Their notion of America’s nature changes every time the government changes."
No, we always cherish its noble ideals and push to see that we all live up to them.
"That’s why progressives so desperately try to get control of the levers of power."
Haha! Conservatives aren't exactly the shy girl standing in the corner at that dance. Sorry, Charlie, but that is the most purely bipartisan impulse of all.
"No means can be too radical, either."
Ooooh, what do you mean by that? No, really. I'm guessing that you picked up on JG's slick trick of saying "Marxists and other revolutionaries" at one point and, a little later, "the explicitly revolutionary aesthetics of [Obama's] campaign" (whatever that means), eh? Obama must be a Marxist, is that it? Progressives are going to confiscate your land and redistribute it to the masses? Uh huh. Grow up.

J: "on the subject of patriotism as it pertains to Barack Obama’s constant redefinition of the word"

That's really not the theme of his piece as a whole, only of one paragraph.
