Hey there, guys.

I'm the "Will Bower" mentioned in this article.

McCain said a *great* deal more about the issue of Supreme Court justices than this article implies.

If you'd like to know the full story, please feel free to contact me through the media page at JustSayNoDeal.com.

Thank you,

[...] McCain is not was not my favorite candidate for president. It was hard for me to support him. Besides how scary having Obama as president is, the only thing motivating me to support John McCain is his promise to appoint judges in the mold of Roberts and Alito. But now…how thin is this promise? Look what Jimmie at Sundries Shack found. [...]

Well, let's see.

Liberal Bush 43 gave us Alito and Roberts.
Liberal-er Bush 41 gave us Thomas.
Conservative Reagan gave us Kennedy and O'Connor.

2 for 2. 1 for 2. And 1 for 3. Guess which President had the worst SCOTUS batting average?

martin, I understand where you're coming from and to some extent I agree. I think I have more faith in the inexorable pull of certain events (like a real and honest alliance with a stable and liberal Iraq) than some others do.

That said, I also understand that at this point the choice for conservatives is between a leftist and a leftist who strays from the reservation on national defense. I don't think that's much of a choice, so I'm going to pass this time around. I certainly won't try to stop anyone else who wants to choose, though.

Basically John McCain cannot be trusted. I think he has Presidentialitis really bad and will say what he has to say to whomever he has to say it.
He reeks of distrust in his every action.
Having said that I must admit Obama is not just untrustworthy, the man is a boiling pot of deception. He is Jesse and Al in a new suit.
Once again conservatives are caught between a rock and the lesser of many evils.

I agree with you on Obama being more predictable and easier to oppose. I am unsure how well the opposing will go for at least the first 2 years. The havoc his domestic policies will cause will be hard to fix. Also I would like to have at least a random chance of a good justice, even a "Sandra Day O'Conner good" justice.

On the war, I have been told by others that he won't be able to screw up Iraq that badly but I don't trust the arguments I get. I think they underestimate the belief that Obama has in himself. He has never faced a problem that words could not fix. He will get promises from people in Iran and elsewhere. He will abandon the Iraqi's that we have worked with to fates that I don't want to contemplate and he will do it quicker than is now easily imagined. They sent congressional Democrats to do a job that congress really can't do. To lose a war you need to be Commander in Chief.

I hope you are right and that the war will be so won by January that it will not matter. However, wars in the middle east often don't stay won.

I understand why people will not vote for McCain. I am not even particularly arguing that they should. I am only saying what I am going to do and my reasons.

Do you think that McCain is more or less predictable than Obama? I think Obama's a heck of a lot more predictable. He may be wrong about pretty much everything, but at least I know on what grounds I can oppose him and on what issues I'll have to fight.

As for Iraq, I'm not worried about Obama. There is no chance that he can do what he says he wants to do, no matter how much he promises the anti-war folks that he will. Indeed, Iraq may be on a track that he won't do anything to change at this point.
