The UN’s Bureaucratic Scold Will Stay Home
Well, finally, some good news from the United Nations.
“Something unexpected of extreme gravity came up, totally outside of my control, that has made it impossible for me to take the red-eye flight that was already reserved from San Diego to Washington,” Bustamante wrote in a letter to immigrant group leader Ricardo Juarez, a coordinator of Mexicans without Borders.
The reason he delayed the trip was “confidential,” Bustamante told The Examiner on Tuesday, adding he hopes to come at a later date. Asked if anyone at the United Nations told him not to come, he said, “I cannot tell you.”
He can spend as much time on this business of his as he wants, as far as I’m concerned. No United Nations official has any business investigating this country for anything so long as its peacekeepers are raping their way across Africa, running brothels in the former Yugoslavia, and are still living off the bribes they got from Saddam Hussein in the Oil for Food racket. So long as the UN turns a mostly blind eye to child rape, honor killings, and genocide it has no grounds whatsoever to scold my country about anything.
I’m not saying the UN has to be perfect, but there’s a lot of cleaning up that needs to be done there. Señor Bustamente’s time is much better spent investigating the manifold abuses of human rights that are daily countenanced by the people who sign his paycheck.
