And They Want My Healthcare, Too?
The Senate is going to finally privatize its cafeteria because the food and service is so bad that Senators and staffers actually prefer to walk across the street to the House’s cafeteria. The privatization is expected to make the Senate just under a million dollars in its first year, improve service, and provide better food. Yet a large number of Demcoratic Senators are against it. Why?
Well, they say, wages and benefits for the workers will go down when the restaurant goes private and it’s their job to make sure that doesn’t happen. Funny, but I wasn’t aware that making sure that people get paid premium salaries in exchange for bad service for a deficient product was a function of the Senate. I guess it is, though, since that’s exactly what they’re trying to do with helth care.
