A Rant on Tyranny and Selfishness
I really don’t have the words to describe what I think of the Chinese Government. I can hurl insults at them all day and it doesn’t satisfy. I can point out their repugnant policies and their repeated cruelties to a horribly traumatized population and they’ll simply trump anything I say be being even more cruel.
But in not very long, we’ll be handing them millions upon millions of dollars as they host the Olympic Games. We’ll patronize the companies who have decided that it’s just fine to be a part of their tyrannical regime. The broadcasts will talk about what a beautiful coutnry it is but will barely bother to mention the suffering that Chinese Communism has visited on hundreds of millions of our fellow human beings.
But, hey. What’s it to us, right? We want hope and change! Because the times are full of changitude!
Whatever. Let’s just say what we mean. We can’t be buggered to call out a bunch of bastards in China because we’re too busy whining about gas prices even though we’re sitting on an immense amount of oil that we won’t go get because we’re complete idiots. Too many of us are way too selfish and hypocritical to turn the unparallelled engine of creativity and industry that we control outward to give just a little breathing room to some people being crushed to death by despots. We’re cowed by the idea of a little competition, so we make sure to kick poor farmers in Brazil and Africa in the nads by giving millions of our own dollars to rich “farmers” in Manhattan.
Meanwhile, Chinese mothers are crying for just a little justice.
Like we care.
