Though I wish we would be much more insistent that Saudi Arabia clean up its act appreciably, its leadership is not even in the same league as that of Iran.
You persist in a view of Christians that is not at all supported by the facts as well. I know it feels good to equate Islam and the various Christian religions in a "damn them all" sort of way, but it doesn't wash with even a child's view of the world.

fostert, I'm afraid I can't agree with your analysis. But that would make us evil as well, so maybe we shouldn't go there. Their government is a different story, of course. The government is nowhere near as evil as Saudi Arabia's, but it's far worse than Turkey's. But Saudi Arabia is our best buddy in the Arab world. So we must be evil to support them. And trade with them, and and give them weapons, and support their theoretical nuclear program. And we have no problem with the fact that they are the primary source of Al Quaeda's revenues. And if they want to kill our people, that's just fine, because we need their oil. As far as I'm concerned, if we were to base our relations on human rights records or support for terrorism, we'd have ditched the House of Saud a long time ago and we would be allies with Iran. But we apparently have a strong opinion about the theological differences between the Sunni and Shia and back the extremist Wahhabi position that Saudi Arabia takes. Either that, or we don't give a damn about anyone in the Middle East and back the House of Saud because they cooperate with our oil companies. The latter is obviously the real situation, the former is just a snark.
So who's really evil here? Jimmy Carter, who talks to the country with the most potential to be on our side? Or George Bush, who kisses the lips (literally) of the most evil leader in the Middle East? The leader of the country from which the most 911 attackers were from. The leader that allows his family to give money to Al Quaeda. The leader who makes sure his banking laws keep the terrorist money laundering business operating at peak efficiency. The leader who backs Sunni militia groups in Iraq that are killing our soldiers.
I'm not surprised that you think Iran is the evil one here (despite the fact that you support Iran's choice of leaders in Iraq). But that's because I'm convinced that you want our soldiers to be killed. You must think it's glorious for our soldiers to die in an effort to bring about the prophecies of the Book of Revelations. Saudi Arabia is more than willing to cooperate in John Hagee's plans (at least the 'destroy Iran' part), and it seems you are too. Ahmadinejad may be a religious fanatic with Apocalyptic goals, but you are simply the Christian version of the same. As a neutral observer in these religious conflicts, I think you are both equally crazy.
In the end, I think Kissinger's "it's a pity they can't both lose" comment is appropriate here. I have little problem with Christians and Muslims killing each other if that's what they want to do. But they should keep the rest of us out of their conflict. From what I've seen, the Muslims might be willing to ignore those of us who do not follow Abrahamic religions. But the Christians seem to not be willing to stop at just killing all the Muslims. They will try to kill me as well. I can only hope that Christians will weaken themselves in their attempt to eradicate the Muslims enough that they won't have the resources to go after the rest of us. But with the nuclear arsenal that we possess, that hope isn't very realistic. And with Christians believing that they will be raptured before the bombs fall, they will be willing to employ nuclear weapons where they live. And I live among them, so I will face the consequences of their delusions.

Are Iranians really "evil?" Maybe so, they are, after all, the most pro-American people in the Middle East.
