Jimmy Carter Goes All-In with Evil
Sweet Mother of God, what does Jimmy Carter think he’s doing? Over the weekend he decided not only to reveal that Israel does have nuclear weapons (something that Israel has never revealed) but also to reveal exactly how many they have. This comes after his breathtakingly stupid turn as Hamas’ unofficial ambassador.
What’s his next trick? Well, it’s a speech that has, in my mind, turned Jimmy Carter from a ignorant buffoon into a selfish ally of evil. Is that hyperbole? I don’t think so.
TEHRAN (FNA)- Former US President Jimmy Carter urged Washington to establish friendly ties with Tehran, reiterating the need for his country to resume trade relations with Iran, which he described as a “rational” nation.
Speaking at the Hay Festival yesterday, Carter also suggested the US should provide nuclear power technology and fuel to Iran as a show of goodwill.
“What happens if, in three years’ time, Iran has a nuclear weapon,” Carter asked. “I’m not sure that is going to happen, but if it does, what do we do? They are rational people like all of us in this room. Do they want to commit suicide? I would guess not. So what we have to do is talk with them now and say to them we want to be their friends,” the former US president said.
“The United States must let Iran know that we want to give them fuel and everything they need for a non-military nuclear program. Twenty-five years ago we cut off trading with Iran. We’ve got to resume trading to show Iran we are friends.” [emphasis mine]
There is no way that Jimmy Carter can claim to be even remotely knowledgeable about world affairs and say anything that amazingly obtuse. Do “they” want to commit suicide? Well, Mad Mahmoud firmly believes that he is bringing about the coming of the 12th Imam, which will only happen when the world is consumed in bloodshed. Carter must also have missed the bit where he said, “What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow.” His fervency has become such that even prominent clerics inside Iran are telling him to back off. The answer, pretty clearly, is “yes”.
Of course, Jimmy Carter knows this. He may be a fool, but he is not that ignorant of world events. It is, of course, sheer fantasy, though, to suppose that simply by talking to the same gang who stones young women for defending themselves from rape and hangs gays to death they can become our “friends”. A fool may suppose such a thing will happen, like a fool may suppose that tomorrow the sun will rise in the West. So it is no shock that Carter, who has beclowned himself often enough in the past twenty years that Ringling Brothers should offer him a job, would believe that a simply tea party with Mad Mahmoud could bring about rainbows and ponies for everyone.
The better thing to wonder is why Carter, who has professed to be a man of love and possessed of deep religious convictions, would want to be friends with the tyrannical butchers in Tehran. Why would he want to sit down and talk kindly to them without ever criticizing them for their daily brutalities. Why would he want to make common cause with men who condone honor killings and gang rapes? Why would he seek their friendship without a sharp word against their barbaric practices?
No decent human being should want to befriend the evil regime in Tehran. They should want to cast it into ruin and break its very foundations so that the people it oppresses every day can live without fear in the light of liberty. Jimmy Carter obviously cares little for those people. He has some sort of international legacy he is trying to build and he’ll be damned if a few million brutalized Iranians are going to stand in his way. His interests lie solely on what new adoration he can gain for himself by playing the patsy to butchers around the world.
That doesn’t make him stupid, as Gateway Pundit supposes he might be. It makes him reprehensible. It makes him morally vacant. It makes him the very best friend to evil.

I can't figure him out. He's turned into a very sick joke.
This long time virulent anti-semite is decending into lunacy or perhaps just natural dementia. I afraid his legacy as America's weakest, worst President is going to his head and he is desperately seeking ways to embellish it.
Are Iranians really "evil?" Maybe so, they are, after all, the most pro-American people in the Middle East. But that would make us evil as well, so maybe we shouldn't go there. Their government is a different story, of course. The government is nowhere near as evil as Saudi Arabia's, but it's far worse than Turkey's. But Saudi Arabia is our best buddy in the Arab world. So we must be evil to support them. And trade with them, and and give them weapons, and support their theoretical nuclear program. And we have no problem with the fact that they are the primary source of Al Quaeda's revenues. And if they want to kill our people, that's just fine, because we need their oil. As far as I'm concerned, if we were to base our relations on human rights records or support for terrorism, we'd have ditched the House of Saud a long time ago and we would be allies with Iran. But we apparently have a strong opinion about the theological differences between the Sunni and Shia and back the extremist Wahhabi position that Saudi Arabia takes. Either that, or we don't give a damn about anyone in the Middle East and back the House of Saud because they cooperate with our oil companies. The latter is obviously the real situation, the former is just a snark.
So who's really evil here? Jimmy Carter, who talks to the country with the most potential to be on our side? Or George Bush, who kisses the lips (literally) of the most evil leader in the Middle East? The leader of the country from which the most 911 attackers were from. The leader that allows his family to give money to Al Quaeda. The leader who makes sure his banking laws keep the terrorist money laundering business operating at peak efficiency. The leader who backs Sunni militia groups in Iraq that are killing our soldiers.
I'm not surprised that you think Iran is the evil one here (despite the fact that you support Iran's choice of leaders in Iraq). But that's because I'm convinced that you want our soldiers to be killed. You must think it's glorious for our soldiers to die in an effort to bring about the prophecies of the Book of Revelations. Saudi Arabia is more than willing to cooperate in John Hagee's plans (at least the 'destroy Iran' part), and it seems you are too. Ahmadinejad may be a religious fanatic with Apocalyptic goals, but you are simply the Christian version of the same. As a neutral observer in these religious conflicts, I think you are both equally crazy.
In the end, I think Kissinger's "it's a pity they can't both lose" comment is appropriate here. I have little problem with Christians and Muslims killing each other if that's what they want to do. But they should keep the rest of us out of their conflict. From what I've seen, the Muslims might be willing to ignore those of us who do not follow Abrahamic religions. But the Christians seem to not be willing to stop at just killing all the Muslims. They will try to kill me as well. I can only hope that Christians will weaken themselves in their attempt to eradicate the Muslims enough that they won't have the resources to go after the rest of us. But with the nuclear arsenal that we possess, that hope isn't very realistic. And with Christians believing that they will be raptured before the bombs fall, they will be willing to employ nuclear weapons where they live. And I live among them, so I will face the consequences of their delusions.
fostert, I'm afraid I can't agree with your analysis. Though I wish we would be much more insistent that Saudi Arabia clean up its act appreciably, its leadership is not even in the same league as that of Iran.
You persist in a view of Christians that is not at all supported by the facts as well. I know it feels good to equate Islam and the various Christian religions in a "damn them all" sort of way, but it doesn't wash with even a child's view of the world.
