If you said 3), you win! I wonder how many phone calls from Nanci Pelosi this morning for this few seconds of what I do no doubt was completely accidental honesty:
I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we…the Democrats, I think pushed it as far as we can to the end of the fleet, didn’t say it, but we implied it. That if we won the Congressional elections, we could stop the war. Now anybody was a good student of Government would know that wasn’t true. But you know, the temptation to want to win back the Congress, we sort of stretched the facts…and people ate it up.
This won’t sit well with the nutroots and other assorted anti-war throwbacks. They’ve been flim-flammed! Hoodwinked! Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, leaders of the Congress with the worst approval rating in the history of Congressional approval ratings, led them right up to the pit full of burned paper and kicked them in the ash hole.
And can’t you just hear the gnashing of teeth when they read what he said a bit more closely and realize how utterly demeaning he was to them. Basically, he said that anyone who’s spent some time learning about how our government works would have seen through the ruse and he’s exactly right. That happens to be true, but it’s going to be bitter, bitter medicine going down.
I wanted a good Simpsons quote here, but I have to admit that no matter what I found, the one that see-dubya used beats it: “Oh crap, I said the loud part quiet and the quiet part loud!” So I borrowed a little something for the thread title (which inspiration you can find right here).

I saw this vid early this morning and while we knew all along that they were not serious about stopping the war, their behavior has made it more difficult to win. Their public statements & opposition have encouraged our enemies to keep fighting & keep killing our soldiers. Their lack of public resolve & attacks on the President and attacks on our troops have weakened our position and made it substantially more difficult to deal with the new threats that have come up.
….and so they could win an election.
You folks are great. 7+ years of abysmal failure from the bush administration and you grab onto the thoughtless words of a nobody Dem? You all are too much. How do you balance your opinion of this current story with the 1000 or so lies told by your idiot boy-king? Do they balance out for you? Do they really?
