Drunken Sailors to the House of Us! Drunken Sailors to the Senate of Us!
On one side of the Capitol, the House is trying to re-pass it’s 300 billion dollar fleecing of the American taxpayer but what’s the Senate up to? As it happens, they’re busy passing a war spending bill that includes 10 billion dollars in domestic pork. The President has promised to veto this bill like he did (and will again) the farm bill but that veto will last about as long as a oyster cracker in a sandstorm. This bill passed the Senate with 75 “yea” votes.
Now, it goes to the House where the drunken sailors there will see just how much they can stuff into it themselves.
Oh, by the way, there are only 49 Democratic Senators (51 if you count allied independents Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman). That’s significantly less than 75, which means that more than half of the Republican Senators voted to waste 10 billion of your dollars.
That money could, I haste to mention, be putting gas in your car or food on your table. Perhaps the Senats could call their colleagues to testify in a hearing isntead of oil company executives. Isn’t that a nice thought?
Yeah, and while I’m wishing, I’d also like a MacBook, two years’ college tuition plus living expenses, and a flying car.
