We Are Cutting Edge
Not that this will change your life or anything, but I’ve just finished upgrading the shack to the newest, spiffiest version of Word Press. According to the announcements, the site should run a bit faster, I should be able to integrate new blogging toys, there are new things that I get to use that should make posting and such much easier for me, and candy and ponies will be freely available to everyone.
Okay, maybe not the last one, but everything else…sure.
I’m actually proud that I managed to pull off the upgrade without messing something up, and it only took me about 45 minutes of intense instruction-reading. There was a cigarette-intensive few minutes between the time I deleted all the old blog files and uploaded the new ones where I was praying I had done everything right and wouldn’t have to go crawling, very think wallet in hand, to Riika (my lovely and supremely talented web host) to fix what I had demolished. Little did I know that I didn’t need to go through the agony.
But, no. All seems well and nothing seems to be broken. I did little review of the FAQ for this version just to make sure. The FAQ is where I found out that there’s this really neat plug-in that would have done it all for me in about five minutes. Gosh, guys. Could you have stuck that on the upgrade page where I could have found it before I blew the better part of an hour?
Am I bitter? Ohhhhhhh no. Not me.

Always read the Read Me's, LOL. It takes discipline, but it almost never fails. Many a heartache & lost time could have been avoided if I would only bother to glance the Read Me for just a moment before pressing forward!
That's the thing. There wasn't a Read Me beyond the "here's how you upgrade". The plugin is a third-party thing, which is why, I suppose, WordPress doesn't link it up in the official docs. That said, apparently many of the gurus who work with or on the software swear by it.
Ah well. At least I know better now.
Does this mean we are going to get a quote & bold buttons by chance??
Perhaps. I have to dig around a bit and see what I can find that'll do the job but be easy enough for me to understand.
UPDATE: Okay, Lori. Let's see how this works. There should be a grey button over the comment field. Click it and you should get a whole mess of buttons. It doesn't look pretty at all, but it appears to work. Highlight the text and click a button to get the text you want. Here's the key:
Strong will get you a bolded text.
em will get you italics.
B-Quote will let you do that neat quote thing.
Link will let you drop in a hyperlink.
That should get you pretty much what you want. Let me know how it works for you. If I can clean up the god-awful ugly button placement, I will. I"m not sure if I know how, though.
That was quick! I'll give these a shot.

Ooops….I tried to put a link to your main page but somehow managed to make the last items all link to it. I guess that is what the "close tags" button is for?
Let's try that again….

Ah perfect!
I guess I don't know what the OL & LI are for but the rest should be enough for what I need anyhow. Really helpful….thanks again Jimmie.
