Getting in the Gift Requests Early, Y’all.
Inspired by the incomparable Rachel Lucas, I’ve decided to be completely shameless about my birthday. I’m soon to be 40 years old (and when I say “soon”, I mean, in a week!) and let me tell you, this is a birthday that’s not filling me with glee, especially since I spend much of my time in a couple choirs with quite a few people less than half my age.
There’s nothing like hearing your fellow singers talk about a new song they heard and realize that not only do they have no idea that it’s a cover tune but also that you distinctly remember the original. Just get me my cane, you whippersnappers. I’ll be fine over here watching an old Matlock episode.
As if that’s not quite enough, my blogging anniversary is two days before my birthday. I started The Sundries Shack four years ago on the 26th and though it’s far from a top-tier blog, I’m pretty darned happy with what it’s become. I’m glad that a lot of you have found it a place you visit regularly. I love knowing that there are good folks out there who enjoy sharing their time and their comments with me. You guys do sincerely rock!
What’s that to you? Well, it’s your chance to treat me to a goodie or two this year on the occasion of my twin celebrations. Lucky you, huh? The best way to do that, for both of us, is to hit either of the Amazon links on my blog and buy a little (or a really big) something for yourself. Everything you buy earns me a few shekels (4 percent now, and up to almost 7 percent if a bunch of you buy stuff!). So, you get goodies and I get a few more bucks toward that orbital weapons platform I’ve long lusted after. Who loses here?
But if you don’t want any stuff for yourself, but you want me to have stuff, you can always delve into my wish list and send me a little trinket. Nothing there is hideously expensive. I’m not a man of extravagant tastes. Of course, if you’re itching to buy me that Mac Book, I won’t argue. You can even double up to birthday goodness by going to Amazon by one of the links, then hitting my wish list from the site. I’ll get stuff and some cash. Double bonus!
If stuff-buying isn’t your thing, there’s always the tip jar. Both the wish list and the tip jar are in the right-most sidebar.
If you come here regularly, and I hope you do, you know I don’t often shill and compared to lots of other blogs, I don’t splatter the place with advertising. But this is my birthday, one with a bit more impact than normal, so I don’t feel so bad about my shameless begging. It wouldn’t hurt me one bit if I found myself showered with gifts. I sincerely thank you in advance for your readership, your comments over the years, and your generosity.

I tried to get you something from your list but I can't figure out how to mail it to you instead of me…and I have no use for Remote Control Lederhosen, LOL! Is there a way to send it directly to you from Amazon?
I think that sending it from the wish list will supply you with my address (though it will include you address, so I know who to thank, or at least where to send a thank you note).
Hey, who doesn't need Remote Control Yodeling Lederhosen?
I tried that…when I put it in my cart, it shows that it was from your list, but when I go to check out, it doesn't give an option to send it anywhere but to my address??
Okay, I fiddled with some settings (Darned technology!). See if what I did works for you.
Okay, I figured out part of it anyway….the Lederhosen is being sold by an individual. If I pick an item on the list that is coming straight from Amazon, it allows me to ship it to you without having to manually enter your address.
Okay, whatever you did allowed me to send it just like the Amazon stuff, but didn't let me pick a gift card or wrapping…:-( Will try harder next year, LOL. Hope you enjoy & have a happy birthday.
Well, poot. I'll tinker some more, so it'll be right by next year.
Thank you very much!
