My, it looks like John McCain’s starting to get taken seriously by the MSM. That’s my best explanation for this article in the Washington Post that basically boils down to, “John McCain has a wicked bad temper. Sure you want his finger on the button?”. Ed Morrissey does a pretty good analysis of the article, which turns out to be not so much of a much.
Ramesh Ponnuru, however, got a most interesting e-mail from Mark Salter, who is one of McCain’s top aides. Salter says the article is…really bad.
The story about the Young Republican in 1982 is entirely fictional. The Bob Smith incident is entirely fictional. The Karen Johnson story is entirely fictional. Most of the others are exaggerated beyond recognition…
In sum, this is one of the more shoddy examples of journalism I’ve ever encountered. But for the infamous NYT story, I’d say it was the worst smear job on McCain I’d ever seen.
The New York Times story he references is the one where the Times basically accused Johnny Mac of having an affair based on evidence so flimsy you could throw a cotton ball through it from 100 feet. It looks as if McCain’s looking way too good to the MSM and it was time for another piece of crap smear story.
You all know that I’m not much of a fan of McCain’s politics at all and he’s not done a darned thing to earn my vote. However, the more I see the MSM throwing any pretense of ethics or professionalism out the window to crush his candidacy, the more inclined I am to vote for him.

This is quite hilarious to me. I have a neighbor Jimmie, that is running for congress against Emanuel Cleaver this fall. Great guy, very conservative, has been a wonderful neighbor and of course whenever we get together we always talk politics. He told my husband and I yesterday that he sees how McCain has courted the press all these years and how he seems to be benefitting from it. LOL- I said Jacob, honey, McCain may THINK he’s friends with the press, but they will tear him a new one this summer and fall. For someone I thought was so smart, I was surprised at his naivete. If you are a conservative the press will kill you. I sure hope he wises up or he’s dead meat again (he ran against him in ‘06 and lost)
Oh, yes, how could I forget about his temper? Big issue that ought to take up a big part of any debate like the last Dem one you liked so much.
Except that the article isn’t true.Another story today from Bob Kerry who said that the incident he witnessed that was in the article didn’t happen at the reporter portrayed it either.
Heck, let them ask it at the debate. It’ll give McCain a chance to completely destroy it where millions of people can see.
J: “It’ll give McCain a chance to completely destroy it”
Destroy? My, oh my, what a violent fellow he is!
