And All It Took Was For Him to Turn Green

I just saw a commercial for Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection which left me puzzled. I saw Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson sitting on a couch imploring us to save the environment like they were old college buddies.

Yet I’ve heard not a single peep from folks on the left who in the past have called Robertson nearly every name in the book. Folks who would have been melting down the blogosphere over any other high-profile appearance have been utterly silent about these commercials. No outrage. No nothing. Even memeorandum has been pretty quiet about it.

What gives?

Is it okay with my friends and fellow bloggers on the left for Robertson to shill for Al Gore even though he is, according to leftist heroes, one of the worst people in the world?

It’s looking a lot like the global warming leftists are willing to embrace a man they consider a bigot and a homophobe just to get his smiling mug in a Church of Gore commercial. I can’t wait until they decide to pile on him again. I hope when they do, they remember how strangely quiet they were when he was working on their side.

The commercial is after the jump.

Why is that confusing to you? It's a pretty simple concept: people who disagree on other things agree about global warming.

I'm confused about why the left is embracing him now. So it's okay to cuddle up to a racist homophobe if he's with you on one issue?

That's good to know. Please apply the same principle to the right also, though.

Who's embracing or cuddling up? He's still a douchebag in my eyes. But if we can't live on our planet, then nobody's stances on any other issues will matter. It's really not tough to understand.
