If you really thing that Iran isn't waiting for us to leave to sink its claws into Iraq, you're simply not paying even the slightest bit of attention. They know that if they commit to the American side and the Americans abandon them as we did in 1991, it means death for them and their families.

This does not compute on so many levels. If some Iraqis haven't committed to our way of doing things after 5 long years of occupation, why the hell would they do so today? And it's not possible for us to "abandon them as we did in 1991" since Saddam is gone and the Shiites are sitting pretty (albeit on a pile of rubble). Also, we have no idea what will happen if we leave– many might mellow out just because the "Great Satan" is gone.
