The folks at LiveLeak have held to their principles and put Geert Wilders movie back up for viewing. It took them a couple days to make better security arrangements for their people, who have been receiving death threats from angry Christians Buddhists Unitarians Muslims. But the video is back and LiveLeak is appropriately defiant in defense of a fundamental right that a significant number of Musliims want to take away from us.

I looked around a little this weekend to see if the story was getting much coverage from the MSM and saw pretty much nothing. It didn’t show up on the talking heads shows on Sunday. None of the weekend newscasts carried more than a faint mention (and I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt here because I saw nothing, but I’m willing to grant that perhaps there was something buried late in the broadcast I didn’t see). Ace is not amused by the MSM’s invisibility on this:

What annoys me most about this is that were we dealing with any other group making death-threats against fair (if inflammatory) speech, the rest of the media would immediately all post the “offensive” material in solidarity with those who are threatened, to demonstrate that such threats will simply not work.

Heck, the media doesn’t even require death threats. If you dunk a statue of Jesus in urine, all you need for coast-to-coast media coverage, complete with full-color images of your work is for a largish Christian group to raise any sort of fuss at all. When that ahistorical, anti-Catholic piece of twaddle The DaVinci Code was headed to theaters, not only did news shows features clips of the movie, several networks, including a major broadcast network, showed hour-long “documentaries” asking if the movie was true or not (Answer: Who can say?).

Ace is correct. The MSM has been quiet about this story because to report on it would reveal their monumental cowardice. It’s much easier to poke the religions that won’t threaten to kill you. There is a rule that you get more of the behavior you encourage. I don’t expect that anyone in the media really gets that.

It would appear that the way to get MSM coverage of the Fitna video, is for Christian groups to protest it…

That’d be funny to watch, I think. There’d be exploding heads all over TV land as anchors tried to explain exactly what Christians were protesting.
