PoliGazette is Down. Is Fitna the Reason?

As I have mentioned before, I’m a contributor to another blog called PoliGazette. It’s a group blog run by Michael van der Galien, who lives in the Netherlands.

Right now, if you click that PoliGazette link, you’ll find that the account has been suspended. I strongly suspect that’s because Michael and several of the co-bloggers there have been writing favorably about Geert Wilders movie Fitna and not so favorably about the Dutch Government that has been working very hard to stifle Mr. Wilders. That government effort has come because several Muslim groups, many of them violent in their won rights, have demanded it.

I do not know why Michael’s blog is down and I’ve shot an e-mail over to him. Hopefully I’ll hear something soon. If possible, I’ll forward a message from him.

Updates as I know them.

UPDATE (2001 Eastern): I heard from Michael. He’s okay and he confirmed that the site has been suspended. He has contacted the hosting company and is waiting for word from them. He suspects the same as I do about why his site was suspended.

UPDATE (2235 Eastern): And the site is back up, apparently without explanation from the hosting company.

UPDATE (1105 Eastern, 3/28): Michael finally got his reason. The hosting company said that it was a problem with a lot of incoming traffic but he’s not seeing anything near a record day’s worth of traffic. Perhaps that’s the reason, and we’ll have to go with it, but I’m still pretty suspicious.
