What I’d Like Bush to Say to Hu
It looks like the President has been talking to the Chinese leader about those missile parts. Here’s the AP story in its entirety as of 3:52 PM:
President Bush told Chinese President Hu Jintao that a “mistake had been made” in shipment of nuclear missile fuses to Taiwan.
Yep. And I dearly hope that he strongly hinted at how we could be terribly distracted again while watching a certain country beat down Tibet and try to host an Olympics and throw dissidents in prison and pollute the air so badly it causes other countries to send their people indoors. Yes, such mistakes could be darned near impossible to avoid if a certain country doesn’t gets its act together tout de suite.
We’d be all kinds of sorry and we’d be sure to apologize for it two years after it happened, too. You know how these things go, though. One day you’re watching a certain growing economy wobble toward prosperity; the next day you’re wondering how those missile parts ended up in the hands of people who should be free right now. What can you do?
