Here is Barack Obama’s big speech from today on race and why he shouldn’t be held accoutnable for what that wonderful, yet occasionally misguided guy Jeremiah Wright said about white people.

Eh. Color me unimpressed. Obama give a pretty speech, but when you actually start poking around in it, you find that it’s mostly crap. This speech isn’t any different. It’s still the same obfuscation about his own motives and desires and the same racial division dressed up as conciliation as I’ve heard most of my life. It’s not more clever and it’s not more married to reality. It still shows the same flaws and, if he makes an admission or two that you might not have heard before (like, say, the Founding Fathers were actually decent men), it’s because by this point in history it’s become impossible to tell the same lies in front of the entire country. Oh, some will believe the same old fables the way a child will cling to a tattered security blanket, but plenty of other folks have wised up and done their own homework.

I’ll give you the short version. Race as an issue isn’t dead. Jeremiah Wright’s a really good guy, no matter what you hear him say. It’s okay for him to yell about how bad white people are because there’s racism Oh, but not from you white people, who are really tired of being called a racist all the time. Other white people are racists. Well, maybe you are a little, but you can’t help it. It’s part of the country, designed into America by the really good but still pretty bad Founding Fathers. Oh, and white people, you aren’t allowed to be mad because you’re white people and they get all the good stuff. So enough about race and let’s get on with the other stuff. Like health care, which none of us can get. I’m here for Ashley and her sad, sad story. The end.

Let’s call it another good con job from the substanceless Obamessiah and simply accept that he’ll never answer why his closest advisor aside from his wife hates white people with a blinding fury nor why that’s completely cool with him.

Just curious, “Jimmie”…which candidate are you endorsing? Surely someone as opinionated and outspoken regarding the candidates in this election has to have a preference for one over the other. So, do tell. We promise we won’t hold it against you (smile).

  3. spoots says:

Point-blank question:Do you fear that Obama is racist?

  5. Lori says:

LOL – I like your summary of the speech better!

  6. Jewells says:

Nice summary Jimmie. The libs just loved it however, and I’m sure Chrissy Matthews got another tingle up his leg. Maybe if Obama keeps talking and Chrissy keeps getting those tingles he’ll eventually just electrocute himself. One can only hope.

  7. wally says:

Why are we so divisive? The man speech was wonderful, too often we have pastors, politician and others who sit wanting to say exactly what him did but no substance.
Christians, constrictive walk around and talk wearing sign “what would Jesus do “? Remember the beatitudes. Why did he? Obama own black’s some under the house and slave attitude still exist and are afraid of saying what the really want to as the are still under what we call “fear of the Mind” however as the song says “emancipate yourself from mental slavery .as nothing can stop the time.

OBAMA you make me and many others race proud of you……………..

Remember a brave may die once cowards a million times regardless of the stake.

    Thank you for opposing Obama.

Your complete lack of logical coherence is a reassuring hallmark that you are in fact someone who just doesn’t get it. Hopefully for our nation you’re somewhere well south of the 50th percentile.

God help us if more than half of us are as dumb as you.

I admit to being not at all surprised by the intellectual rigor and reasonable rhetoric of most of the comments here.

It shows me that most folks on the left simply aren’t interested in engaging their brains in a political discussion. I’ll enjoy watching most of you go further onto the crazy train in November.

  10. Kay says:

Jimmie, contrary to your comments, we are capable of engaging our brains in a political discussion. As soon as you have one we are interested in hearing it. But going on and on about Obamas racism speech is not politics. You all who say he has no substance do not even see that your takes against him hold no substance. Bring out concrete points where he and Clinton differ. List the things Clinton achieved in office and show what his opposing position on these issues were. I think when you try to have a discussion based on substance you will find that when it came down to it they were in the same party and voting very similarly. In addition, each performed for their community. I try not to get blinded by the smoke and mirrors candidates put up – remember they are lawyers and one thing we lawyers do is take classes that teach us how to perform. Keep that in your mind when you hang on Clintons comments. But in the end Clinton will probably take office so relax you will be happy. I am greatful for this journey – it has made me think seriously about candidates. Before they were all the same on the surface. This has forced me to look beyond and seek the details. Relax – all the corruption they can muster will put her in office. So don’t pop a blood vessel.

Kay, show me where there’s been a single substantive debate that outlines any serious difference between the candidates on the Democratic side. What are their differences on health care, the economy, taxes? There really aren’t any. They both favor massive government spending and new government programs. Well, we know those fail horribly and we’ve not seen a single government program since the 1960s that’s solved a single problem it’s sought to solve. So, really, all I have to discuss are the superficial issues because that’s all the candidates have given me.

Obama’s position on race in important because he’s made it important. He preaches a message of inclusion in his campaign but personally embraces a message of exclusion and hate. And then he lies about it when it’s found out.

But if you think I hang on Clinton’s comments, you’ve not read more than one post on this blog. You’re going to have to do better than that in order to really critique what I’ve said about all the candidates this election season.

  12. spoots says:

J: “He [Obama] preaches a message of inclusion in his campaign but personally embraces a message of exclusion and hate.”
Oh, does he really now? That’s why I asked you if you consider him a racist above, which is what you seem to fear. So, you truly do, huh? What words or actions on Obama’s own part can you honestly point to that support this phobia? Do you think he would try to institute anti-white measures as president?

  13. Lori says:

Spoots – Don’t know about Jimmie, but I don’t fear that Obama is a racist. What I fear is that he thinks Americans, more specifically, white people in America, are the cause of all suffering of people of color.

If he really believes these things his pastor said were wrong, the time to stand up and fight against such bigotry was prior to his running for POTUS. Since he didn’t, there is no reason to believe he would defend us as President.

What is he going to do when Al Qaeda or Iran hits us again & says it is because Americans are bad people? Is he just going to give another speech to white Americans telling us we deserve it because of our nasty history? Is he going to just explain to us that it is their culture to be so bitter because a long time ago some people treated them bad?

How is he going to handle Israel? (oops, sorry for using a dirty word!) Is anti-war Obama going to let the Muslims (who completely surround tiny Isr**l, our ally) bomb the Jews out of existence? Because that is their plan you know….to annihilate the Jews.

  14. spoots says:

Lori: “What I fear is that he thinks Americans, more specifically, white people in America, are the cause of all suffering of people of color.”
If you’ve paid even the slightest attention to what Obama himself has said, you would not fear such a thing. You cannot be serious. In fact, I *know* none of you are actually serious about this stuff, so I don’t know why I’m even bothering to rebut you. Oh, wait, yes, I do: y’all are just striving to induce a knee-jerk reaction– Pavlov rings bell, dog drools– among the more weak-minded of the electorate, as usual, and your cynicism disgusts me.

“there is no reason to believe he would defend us as President”
There is every effing reason to believe he will. Though I myself might make a few exceptions for snozzbags like you, he would not.

“What is he going to do when Al Qaeda or Iran hits us again & says it is because Americans are bad people?”
He’s gonna kick their ass, of course.

“Is he just going to give another speech to white Americans telling us we deserve it because of our nasty history?”
Rev. Wright isn’t the one running for president. Obama has never given any such speech.

“How is he going to handle Israel? (oops, sorry for using a dirty word!)”
Why is Israel a dirty word? I never said it was and do not think so. Why don’t you look into these things?! Here’s the conservative NY Sun’s 1/9/08 editorial about this very question. Read it all. Then STFU.

We’re no shills for Mr. Obama, but these Republicans haven’t checked their facts. At least by our lights, Mr. Obama’s commitment to Israel, as he has articulated it so far in his campaign, is quite moving and a tribute to the broad, bipartisan support that the Jewish state has in America.

Mr. Obama spoke of “a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel: our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy.” Quoth he: “That will always be my starting point.” Mr. Obama spoke of the threat of Iran.

“Neither Israel nor the United States has the luxury of dismissing these outrages [from Ahmajinadingdong] as mere rhetoric.”

Obama added: “We must preserve our total commitment to our unique defense relationship with Israel by fully funding military assistance and continuing work on the Arrow and related missile defense programs. This would help Israel maintain its military edge and deter and repel attacks from as far as Tehran and as close as Gaza.”

  15. neutral says:

what this boils down to is BS. but its all understandable. obama is using the race card not as a race card but as a means to get people motivated. but i’m not saying that that is the right thing to do. obama has shown us that the only thing he is capable of is using racism to stir up the people. if he was confident as a president, he would be able to not only stir the people of america but do it without always resorting to racism. in every speech he talks about “hope” and “peace” for our future. even if it is only in undertones obama needs to stop!
