Two Good Posts on Blogging
There are a couple neat posts out there today on blogging that I think you will enjoy.
John Hawkins has the first, wherein he interviews several conservative women bloggers about their work. He meant for the bloggers to talk about what it’s like to be a successful female in a man’s blogging world, or soemthing like that, but what resulted wasn’t that at all. There is some very solid blogging advice from very smart people in the interviews. That the advice came from women is nearly beside the point. It’s a good set of interviews.
The second post comes from Dr. Melissa Clouthier, who talks about why her blog is more “tight” than she is in person. I can definitely relate. There are a lot of things I say in person that I do not say on The Shack. That’s because I consider my blog a giant megaphone (okay, a smallish megaphone) and, since I don’t go around regularly shouting curse words into the air, I don’t think it right to do the same on the internet. I’m also trying to limit the amount of cursing I do in general. Forcing myself to use other language when I think someone’s being a complete fucktard (see? There it is! Mark your calendars.) makes my communication more precise because I can’t use the lazy words. I have to find the right phrase for the right situation. Besides, blogs filled with vulgarities are mostly the province of the left. The less I appear likk them, the happier I am.
So there you go. Two good blogging posts. Go, read. Enjoy!
