The Heritage Foundation is celebrating it’s 35th Anniversary this week.

You would have to look a long way to find a group that has had a greater influence on the development of conservative thought nor has done more to spread that thought to the American public. Certainly, the Cato Institute comes close, but in my lifetime, Heritage is the undisputed leader.

I had not thought it was 35 years old. I thought it was a few years younger. I first became aware of the foundation as a teenager, thanks to C-SPAN. I was fascinated by the depth and breadth of knowledge I heard from behind countless lectern sporting the Heritage Foundation logo. I still am.

Call me silly, but one day I’d love to speak from behind that logo. Maybe when they have a “Hardly Important Blogger” symposium, I’ll get my chance.
