mohammed_karikatur_7.jpgI’m not sure about the rest of the country, but the Danish press sure has some guts. Two years ago, a Danish newspaper decided to try a little experiment in free speech which ended in Muslim infantile rioting and Western cowardice and betrayal.

This week, several Dutch newspapers have decided to reprint several of the cartoons including the one pictured in this post. That was drawn by a man named Kurt Westergaard, who has been living in hiding, under police protection because of death threats. Indeed, to this day I have not seen one prominent Muslim leader in all of Europe stand up and defend the life of Westergaard. Islam – yes, folks, mainstream “religion of peace” Islam – wants the man dead. Danish police just this week arrested five men who were planning his murder. So the death bounty placed on his head by mainstream Islamic leaders still exists. It likely will for the rest of his life…for drawing a cartoon.

Meanwhile, Muslims are rioting in Denmark. Again. Why? Who can tell anymore. It seems the default condition for young Muslims is “Car-B-Que” and, to be honest, I’ve stopped caring why they’re angry. I just want them to stop all the yelling and killing and burning and vent their insipid little spleens on MySpace and blogs like the rest of the Selfish Generation does in the civilized world. And I’m perfectly happily to use the biggest stick at hand to make that happen. Of course, wherever you find angry young Muslims, you find the deft hand of Hamas. Iran won’t be far behind.

Jyllands-Posten editor Flemming Rose
does his best today to let us know that freedom of speech is something that Denmark would like, too, if we’d be so kind as to help out a bit. This is essentially the same thing he said last year, too. I suspect that he’ll be writing these op-eds into perpetuity. Funny, but we stopped asking rape victims why they were dressed in shorty shorts and “do me” pumps quite a few years ago. Why are we making Mr. Rose jump through those same hoops except that we seem very afraid to stand up for our freedoms when they are challenged by screaming Islamists (though we don’t seem to have the same problem when the aggrieved worships Jesus or the Virgin Mary)?

Most of the West ran and hid two years ago. Our journalists who equate bravery with thumbing their noses at the President like spoiled brats certainly widdled themselves at the very thought of printing the cartoons themselves. Seems like today isn’t much different.
