No Blogging Today.

Today is election day which means that I’ll be at the polls all day like I have the past few election cycles. I started working as an Election Judge in my state back in 2002 and I’ve found the work interesting and pretty rewarding. It’s an interesting way to see how the election process works and I’d recommend that everyone try it at least once.

It is a long day, though. I’ll hit my polling place at 6 AM and won’t leave until we’ve closed the polls and broken down all the equipment. I don’t generally get home until somewhere around 9:30 at night. The Board of Elections does pay the Election Judges, but it’s not much more by the hour than you’d make working a basic entry level job around where I live. To be honest, I didn’t know I’d get paid for it until I went to my very first training class.

So that’s where I’ll be. If I’m not completely dragged out when I get home, I’ll post a bit about what my polling place was like during the day. We were quite busy in the 2006 general election and it looks like we may be that busy again. The weather isn’t supposed to be very good, though, so we’ll see.

Hope all went well…look forward to hearing your take. It appears weather is keeping the polls open even longer.
