It looks like the left is slowly waking up and finding out that Bill and Hillary Clinton have been using them for fifteen years.
Yeah. I almost feel bad for them, except that I’ve treated the left (at least when it comes to the Clintons) like the next door neighbor whose husband abuses her. After telling her time and time and time again that her husband is a rat and will only keep hurting her unless she does something about it and watching her go back to him over and over and over again, you just stop talking and let happen what will happen. And so it is with my friends on the left who have gone back to the Clintons again and again after being hurt and used and abused. It’s made me sad to see it but I hoped that one day they’d come to their senses and see that there is something better than the abuse.
And it looks like that’s happening. Finally.
It makes me very glad to see it. Now let us hope that they continue to see the abuse they’ve endured and take real action to make it stop. They’re not there yet – Jonathan Chait still refers to a woman abused at the hands of Bill Clinton derisively as “trailer trash” – but they’re getting there.
