Unity? No Thanks.

The State (SC) newspaper has a headline that really bugs me .

Obama most likely Democrat to unify America

This is, of course, the reason the editors want you to vote for him. Obama will unite America.

Well, guess what? I don’t want America to be united. America has never been united in its history. Ever.

You know what happens when you get a country that’s unified?

You get totalitarianism. You get fascism. You get unbridled horror and indescribable misery.

I’ll fight that with my dying breath.

No, I don’t want “unity” in my country. I want a nation of individuals, doing what’s best for themselves and their families, helping their friends and neighbors in times of need, and working to give themselves the best and most decent life they can imagine. I want a President who believes in that America all the way down to the marrow. A President whose quest is “unity” is a President who will coddle you all the way into shackles.
