“The new Oldsmobiles are in early this year.”

This is a really entertaining post for a host of reasons not the least of which is that I get to make a Blues Brothers reference. Any day that happens is a good day.

SERIOUS NOTE: Yes, it’s very nice that the Chinese big shots are making a hybrid car. It’s not nice that they’re oppressing their people to a degree that few tyrants dream, are throwing people in prison for speaking against the government, and have the longest sustained eugenics program perhaps ever. Do keep in mind that these are not the relatively-friendly Japanese of the 1980s we’re talking about. Remember this from 1989?

The guys controlling those tanks are the guys who will see the greatest rewards from this new car. The guys like Wang Weilin, some of whom are still in prison, will be the ones doing the work for wages that even an illegal immigrant here wouldn’t accept in deplorable conditions.

So I’m not particularly excited about this new hybrid car. I’ll be more excited when the Chnese people can freely assert the inalienable rights we enjoy here. Then maybe we can talk hybrid cars.
