Fred Thompson: Not the Media’s Campaign

| December 31, 2007 | Comments (2)

Fred Thompson has spent pretty much all his time in Iowa taking his message directly to the voters. It’s not gotten a lot of media play and the little media coverage he has had has been as accurate as Stevie Wonder at a darts tournament but it’s the kind of campaigning I really like. It’s old-school work that we haven’t seen since Ronald Reagan surprised pretty much everyone but the voters in 1980 when he bypassed the traditional media, made a very poor showing in the polls, yet won the Republican nomination with a message that was clear, honest, and hopeful.

That’s what we’re getting from Thompson: a clear, honest, and hopeful message. Take a few minutes and watch this video. He’s not just speaking to Iowa voters. He’s speaking to all of us, Democrats and Republicans and Libertarians, and he’s doing it in a way that takes us a lot more seriously than the other candidates. Instead of passing us notes filtered by the MSM, he’s trusting us to listen to what he says – all of what he says – and take an informed decision.

When was the last time a Presidential candidate trusted you?

I like the way you put that. It says everything about Fred's character and the faith he has in the American people to keep our country strong.

It's why he doesn't need to spin his beliefs and background like the other candidates do.

    Nice post!
