Don’t Let the Anti-War Coward Get Away with His Crime (UPDATE: Look Who Nearly Got Arrested)

UPDATE: Apparently, the lawyer missed his hearing (claiming that he “took a wrong turn”) and darned-near got himself arrested on a bench warrant. The judge was, according to a couple witnesses, extremely unhappy. The Marine (Sgt. McNulty) was able to swear to his statement in front of the judge, which means that even though the shyster (Jay Grodner) got his continuance, Sgt. McNulty won’t have to come back.

So, the trial will continue and Grodner won’t be able to use the system against McNulty.

This story, which looks to be true as the author has copies of the police report and eyewitness statements is pretty despicable.

A Chicago lawyer, who is anti-war, keyed the car belonging to a Marine because he had military plates. The Marine took the lawyer to court to get him to pay for the damage he did. The lawyer, knowing the Marine will be deploying after the New Year, intends on continuing the case until the Marine is out of the country and unable to return to court so the case can be dismissed. That is the action of a coward who is trying to avoid the consequences of his crime and it shouldn’t stand.

I’d recommend that anyone who believes the lawyer should not get away with his cowardly manipulation of the system contact the court in Chicago and ask very politely that the judge not allow the continuance. I’m not sure what sort of leeway the judge has, but it seems to me that he can see that the Marine will clearly not be available and he may well have grounds to refuse the lawyer’s request. I also think it’s worth contacting the Illinois Bar and very nicely ask them to look into the lawyer’s criminal actions.

Our soldiers should not be subject to felonies simply because they wear the uniform of our country. This is not dissent. This is destruction of property and it should not be allowed.
