Ron Paul Gets Booed in Two Languages

Apparently, Hispanics don’t much like the idea of our treating Latin American tyrants like they were respectable leaders.

Silly, silly, naive Ron Paul.

  1. JIVEWIRE says:

    Silly, silly, neocon SHEEP Jimmie.

Dr. Paul received some of the loudest cheers, and upon introduction, received one of the top 2 loudest applause responses from the audience.

He didn't pander to the audience, unlike the other phonies on stage.

Florida has a large anti-Castro Cuban population, and any talk of breaking the embargo on Cuba elicits a strong emotional response (logic goes out the window). However, the same audience CHEERED Dr. Paul on his Iraq stance, as well as his comments on how our relations with Vietnam has improved since we stopped warring with them and started trading and talking to them.

Those who booed proved being a SHEEP crosses over languages, so you are not alone, jimmie the SHEEP!

  2. Captain Obvious says:

Yeah, that is pretty naive. After all, look at where our current policies have gotten us. It's a good thing none of these tyrants have thought of using US pressure as a nationalist rallying point. Anyhow, that Cuba embargo is bound to start working one of these decades.

    Solidarity, brother.

  3. Jimmie says:

Yeah, coddle those tyrants, Jivewire. That's always gotten really good results in the past.

Perhaps Dr. Paul could consult a history book when he's not grabbing all that pork from our taxes.

  4. Jeffey says:

Grabbing all that pork? What on Earth are you talking about?

But, getting back to responding to something more reasonable, I agree with Pauls position. Opening up trade and relating peacefully with the general public of these nations makes us look better in the end and more influential. If you want to chip away at tyranny, you do it from the inside out.

  5. Jaime says:

Jimmie: Yeah, consult a history book. Follow your own advice and find out how many military incursions into America (South America, Central America and even in North America) these uS have done. Did you know, for example, that the government of Nicaragua was overthrown to prevent a canal to built there? Do you know how Panama come into existence? Etc, etc ….

  6. Jimmie says:

Jeffrey – You mean you don't know about Ron Paul and his Pork? I'm not surprised. It's not something his campaign seems to stress, what with all his talk about smaller government and such. But the nearly half a billion dollars worth of pork in this past years' budget doesn't lie.

Unless there's something in the Constitution I missed about how the Federal government has a vested interest in the shrimp farming industry in Texas…

  7. Jimmie says:

Jaime – So the answer is to just let the tyrants be? No, thanks. I've seen that story before and I know how it ends. Google "Stalin", "Pol Pot", "Saddam Hussein", or "Mao" for useful references. It's helpful to include the words "genocide" or "mass murder" in those searches.

  8. Fazsha says:

Last time I checked, Chavez was democratically elected, and if you think he wasn't, then Mussharef wasn't either, and Bush props him up.

  9. Jimmie says:

    Rigged elections count, then?

  10. Jeffrey says:

    Jimmie,

The only time such "pork" barrel items come to fuition is if the congress votes to pass it. As it is, Paul votes against it on principle. He might suggest giving back to the community that which the government takes away, but in the end he knows he can't endorse such spending with a "yes" vote.

So, if your suggestion is that Paul supports passing pork barrel spending, then you'd be wrong.

    Next!

  11. Jimmie says:

    Nope, Jeffrey. That doesn't work.

It's a cute little bit of political work and you fall for it completely. Let me 'splain.

Paul knows full well that the bills with his pork are going to be voted through. I know it and so do you. He gets to vote against it because his dissenting vote means absolutely nothing to the passage of the bill. Meanwhile, he gets to pass out the tax money back home and puff out his chest and brag about what a small-government guy he is.

The truly principled thing to do would be to put no pork on any bill and work with the few Republicans (and, I believe a Dem or two) who are trying to do away with earmarks entirely.

Until then, he's just tricking you, with your cooperation.

  12. Jonathan says:

I'm from Victoria Tx which is part of Dr. Paul district.

And it comes down to this, I pay taxes, my goverment needs to work for me. I may not like pork and other unnecessary spending projects that the goverment does, doesn't mean I dont want my piece of the pie.

Also I'm sure if you ask 99% of congress the would tell that they are totally against pork and its an evil practice but they still do it.

But then you dont see those congressmen voting against these bills do you?

  13. Jimmie says:

Indeed, Jonathan. But none of those folks are running for President on a smaller government platform.

Dr. Paul is. And he's being hypocritical to suck up pork while railing against high government spending. Period.
