Is Domestic Violence Against Men Okay?

From Dr. Helen, a video PSA that purports to tell me that adultery is bad but that sure looks like it’s saying that domestic violence against men is AOK. The group that has put it out is advocating the principles in a book written by L. Ron Hubbard. Dr. Helen wants to know if the Scientologists support the message that physically abusing men is okay.

Perusing the web site, I found this page full of citations and official plaudits given by various civic organizations here in the US praising either the book or the foundation. Some of them are fairly recent. I wonder how many of them would continue their association with The Way to Happiness Foundation after seeing that PSA and how many would think it was no big deal. After all, we’re used to seeing men brutalized at the hands of women in our media as a matter of routine. For my money, the PSA is just as wrong as if the situation had been reversed and a woman were being assaulted.
