I don't see it as a peripheral issue. He favors a smoking ban in "public places". Today that means restaurants, bars, and other businesses. Tomorrow it means...what? If Huckabee couches it as a health issue and the government continues to involve itself int he minutae of our health care, what's to stop it from banning it elsewhere?

My problem is that it's not the Federal Government's place to intrude here. Private businesses are private businesses and whether they alow smoking is none of the government's business. That Huckabee wants to nose in on this is a primary issue for me.

He does not want to make smoking and fatty foods off limits... his argument is that smoking should not happen in a workplace as it is a toxic fume... I do not agree with him but this peripheral issue is not a deal breaker for me.
