Someone Tell The Senator That “Experienced” Doesn’t Mean “Married to Someone Who Did the Job”.
I know she meant this for her rival Obama, but Hillary Clinton should really be careful banging on her competition on their experience.
“There is one job we can’t afford on-the-job training for — our next president. That could be the costliest job training in history,” Clinton said. “Every day spent learning the ropes is another day of rising costs, mounting deficits and growing anxiety for our families. And they cannot afford to keep waiting.”
She can’t really mean for folks to take her advice to heart, because if they do, they’re sure as heck not going to vote for her. A summary of her experience, and a little bit more, after the jump.
Okay, so here’s that resume that she’s have us believe means she won’t have to be “learning the ropes”.
• U.S. Senate, 2001-present
• First Lady of the U.S., 1993-2001
• Rose Law Firm, 1977-1992
• Lecturer in Law, Univ. of Arkansas at Little Rock, 1979-80
• Asst Professor of Law, director of legal aid clinic, University of Arkansas – Fayetteville, 1974-77
• Impeachment Inquiry Staff, House Judiciary Committee, 1974
• Staffer, Children’s Defense Fund, 1973-74
Where’s the economic experience there? Where’s the executive experience? Looking pretty thin there, Senator.
Obama has more legislative experience than she, and he has at least one prior work position with the title of “Director”, which means that he, at least, has had to deal with a payroll. I’m not endorsing Obama for the job of President, but if experience is the measure, he beats Clinton by a few years. Now, sure, she’s spent a lot of time being married to a Chief Executive, but that doesn’t qualify her for anything. That’d be like saying that Brett Favre’s wife is experienced enough to start for the Packers because her husband was a quarterback.
And I don’t think we’re ready to vote for someone whose biggest chunk of experience is watching someone do the job of President for eight years.
