THIS! IS! DALLAS WEEK!

I have a questions for my fellow Redskins fans.

When did our team turn into a bunch of meek nancy-boys?

Look at the posts from Dan Steinberg’s Sports Bog from Redskins Park this week. Here we have a pretty low-key day with the media where the biggest topics were Clinton Portis not coming out in costume and Mike Sellers shaving off his goatee. And here’s Fred Smoot talking about all the nicknames he has for his teammates. Here’s Jimmy Farris, the newest Redskin, talking about his affection for Terrell Owens. The most aggression we’ve seen from any Redskin thus far is Ryan Boschetti talking smack about…Gilbert Arena’s Halo team. For Pete’s sake, Steinberg is even questioning whether there’s a real rivalry there at all.

Excuse me?

This is Dallas week.

No, wait. Let me say that again.

THIS IS DALLAS WEEK!!

Back in the day, every 5 o’clock news broadcast led with a report from Redskins Park where it was a dead solid lock that a Redskins player would talk some trash about the Cowgirls. Every. Single. Day. The coach would downplay the matchup, of course, but you could see in his eyes that this game mattered like few others. There was an edge at the Park. Even if they weren’t talking about it, you could feel it. This was the Cowboys. This game was important.

Does anyone remember the year the Cowboys went 1-15, but considered their season not a total wreck because their one win came against the Redskins in Washington? How about 1991 when the Cowboys ruined the Redskins perfect 11-0 season? Any of these games ringing a bell?

For goodness sake, what happened?

In case you’ve forgotten what Dallas Week is all about, let’s go back to the day when RFK Stadium literally rocked, when “We Want Dallas” rang out like a war chant, when Dexter Manley was a beast off the end.

Let’s remember the 1982 NFC Championship Game, when Dexter Manley stunted up the middle and knocked the pretty boy Danny White out of the game. Despite that, the Cowboys were still in the game. They had the ball late in the 4th quarter on their own 20 yard line. With the score at 24-1, they were driving to tie the game. You remember that if you’re a ‘Skins fan. I know you do.

And you know what happened next.

Man, if that doesn’t fuel the old Dallas Week emotions, nothing will.

And it's time to play a full out, leave it all on the field defensive scheme which sends Dallas to the depths where they belong. And a little offense which is very slowly coming around. GO SKINS!

  2. Jimmie says:

    Absolutely.

Dallas' strength is their rushing defense. Let's see just how strong it is in the first quarter. I'd like to see them run Clinton Portis so often that on Monday morning, even the mention of the number 26 sends the Cowboys D-Line into shrieking fits.

  3. drWNC says:

2nd half, and the redskins need to play with more intensity and FINISH! Now is the time for a Running back who'll run!

  4. Jimmie says:

Clinton Portis: 12 carries, 36 yards.

Well done, guys. That really showed them.
